Best Basetao SpreadsheetA reader guide to ordering through Basetao

Module six of the guide

What Basetao covers, and what it says it does not

Basetao publishes both halves: a payout table with five situations and three cover levels, and an inspection page that names three things it will not look at. Read together they tell you exactly which risks you are carrying.

Half one

The inspection has a written boundary

On arrival at the warehouse, Basetao states that professional inspectors assess colour against your order, visible damage, stains, the size printed on the label, the model and the version number. Photographs are taken and uploaded, normally the same day, at no charge and without a limit on how many.

Then it names the exclusions. Colour difference and actual size difference are not in the inspection scope. Colour discrepancies, sizing errors and user experience are listed again under Please Note. For electronic and digital products the check is external only, with no accessory count and no power on, and the page states that functional issues are therefore not covered under the insurance policy.

One more clause is easy to miss: where something cannot be verified, such as the absence of visible damage or stains, the page says it will be assumed you reached an agreement with the seller.

Read the inspection standards page

Half two: the payout table

This is unusual. Most agents describe insurance in prose. Basetao publishes a grid, which means you can actually reason about it.

Work out the premium and the payout for your parcel

Everything this calculator uses is published on the Basetao insurance policy page: 2 percent for basic cover, 4 percent for full, stated for parcels with a maximum product value of 3500 CNY, and the five row payout table above. It does no guessing.

Historical policy model, recorded August 2026. The result illustrates the published table; it is not a current insurance quote or a promise that a claim will be paid. Confirm eligibility, exclusions and the conflicting lost-parcel terms before purchase.

The contradiction we are not going to smooth over

The lost parcel line is published twice, with different numbers

In the prose near the top of the insurance page, a lost parcel is described as a full refund of the shipping fee, the service fee and half the value of the parcel, with a full refund for fully insured parcels. In the table at the bottom of the same page, a lost parcel under basic cover is 33 percent.

Half is not 33 percent. The same mismatch appears on the China customs row, where the prose says half and the table says 50 percent, which at least round to the same idea.

We are not going to pick one and present it as the answer, because we do not know which one their finance desk applies. What we would do before insuring a parcel of any real value is ask support in writing which reading governs, and keep the reply.

This is the first entry in our change log

Judge for yourself on the policy page

The Please take note section of the Basetao insurance page, covering Buy for me only, the 200 RMB cap for Ship for me, duties not being covered, and refusing damaged parcels on delivery
The conditions attached to the policy, read 2026-08-04.

The conditions attached

A payout table is only as good as the fine print under it. Here is that fine print, restated.

ConditionWhat it means in practice
The policy applies to Buy for me ordersFor Ship for me the page states a maximum insurance amount of 200 RMB, not a percentage of value.
Broken items need a valid unboxing videoFilm the parcel being opened, every time, before you cut anything. It costs nothing and it is the stated evidence.
Report problems within 7 days of receiving the parcelAfter that the page states Basetao will not take responsibility. The after sale page sets a tighter 24 hours for missing or damaged items.
Do not accept a visibly damaged parcelThe page asks you to refuse delivery and report it, rather than sign for it and complain afterwards.
Tracking that says delivered is not a lost parcelA parcel marked delivered that never appeared is outside this policy.
Import duties and taxes are not coveredThey are yours. See the costs page for where they land.
Basetao may refuse insurance on a specific parcelStated as at its sole discretion, with advance notice to the user.

All rows from the Basetao insurance policy and after sale service pages, read 2026-08-04.

The Basetao storage policy page stating a maximum of 120 days free of charge, the option to arrange shipping during that period, and the right to dispose of a parcel if no shipping request or feedback arrives
The longest of the six deadlines, in Basetaos own words. The other five are in the table above.

What to do with all this

Film the unboxing

It is the named evidence for a broken item claim, it takes thirty seconds, and you can delete it once the parcel is fine.

ruler icon

Close the size gap before you pay

Sizing error is outside the inspection, so the 1.5 CNY measurement service and a question to the seller are the only two tools that work.

shield icon

Insure by consequence, not by habit

The question is not whether the parcel will go wrong. It is whether you could absorb it if it did.

Get the ambiguous bits in writing

The lost parcel line is the obvious one. A support reply in your inbox is worth more than a paragraph on a policy page.

How to read the QC photos when they arrive

The photographs are free and the number of them is not capped, which means the limiting factor is what you thought to ask for, not what it costs.

  1. Start from the two things the inspection already covered

Colour against your order, visible damage, stains, the size printed on the label, and the model or version number. If one of those is wrong, you are inside the inspection and you have a case.

  2. Then look for the three it did not

Shade against your screen, the gap between a printed size and a tape measure, and anything that only shows up once you wear it: all three are written off as out of scope. Electronics get a look at the outside, nobody tallies what came in the box, and nothing is powered up. Those are the frames you have to read for yourself.

  3. Ask for the specific shot before you approve

A sole, a stitch line, a label, a serial, the inside of a lid. Asking is free and the parcel is still in the warehouse. After it flies, the only route left is the seller, inside the window the after sale page sets, and Basetao asks you to report problems within 7 days of receiving the parcel.
